abstract painting

So usually when I paint I always paint a certain subject.. like a flower, animal, or something simple. Not that those are simple but my paintings are always kind of plain. I always admired people who can paint something  abstract. I never considered myself as somebody who can paint without a planned out idea in my head so I figured I should try it out and attempt to paint an abstract painting.
So my brother Mike moved away to Colorado this week and I wanted to make him something simple so he could bring it with him now and not have to wait for it to be shipped out.
So I made him an abstract painting and this is how it turned out:

I love the colors in this painting... it also helps that my awesome brother loved it also! :-)

I'm pretty much loving this whole painting abstract thing. Its a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it so its safe to say I'm sure there will be many more to come!

Drawing Number 2

With Halloween coming up just thought I'd get in the Halloween spirit.
So here is drawing number 2:

I call him Mr. Pumpkin Head!... okay well not really but I did try to come up with a funny name and a couldn't so I settled with that. Not that I name my sketches or anything... but you have to admit that he is pretty dang cute. So with that being said any name ideas?

Mission 1: 30 days 30 drawings

A personal goal of mine for many years has been to stop procrastinating! Procrastination has been a major weakness of mine. So as a little push in the right direction I decided to start small and with something I actually enjoy doing (and hopefully still will after this). I decided to make it a goal of mine to make a drawing once a day for the next 30 days! I realized this might sound simple but trust me when it comes to me I tend to make the most simple things far more complicated then it should be.
I will be sharing each drawing on my blog each day with all of you lovely people. So the fact that its "blog official" I will have absolutely no reason not to commit to my first blogging mission.
30 days 30 drawings starts today.
So here is my first drawing:

A little heads up.. I don't like drawing just one thing on a page. If I'm going to do that I will draw a bunch of random designs on the rest of the page so its not as plain.

Now its not like I draw skulls all the time or anything but I do like practicing them for future portrait references. I'm slowly getting better at it. I'm thinking at the end of this mission I'll become better at drawing. Drawing 1 done, 29 more to go!

a girl on a mission

Hey everyone, first things first, my name is Allison.
Since I spend most of my time making anything that has to do with art, I decided to share "my creations" with more than just my family and friends. How do I do that? I start a blog. So here's the beginning to hopefully a blog of mine that will last longer than a week. I will be sharing anything from my sketches, paintings, jewelry, and who knows what else for all of you to see.
My goal for this blog is to mostly share the things I make with you but my secret hope to this blog is to learn more about myself as I go. As indecisive as I am this blog might (most likely will) include plenty of random post. So here's to my latest mission.. blogging! I dare you to keep up! Hope you enjoy and have a great day!
